SAUGERTIES, NY (August 16, 2012) – HITS, Inc., the event management company behind HITS Triathlon Series, announced today that acclaimed endurance athlete and activist Barry Siff has joined the team to help launch a new endurance endeavor that will debut throughout the United States beginning in the Spring of 2013. In keeping with its "A Distance for Everyone" mantra, HITS' new project will be aimed at growing endurance sports and bringing newcomers on board.

To lead the effort, HITS President and CEO Tom Struzzieri has brought on Siff of Boulder, Colorado who, like Struzzieri, has a long entrepreneurial career history with a passion for sports and a shared vision aimed at age-group and novice, as well as elite athletes.
"I am extremely excited to join HITS and help develop a new national endurance series," he said. "Together, we share a passion - and the ability - to get America moving, by making it easy, affordable and exciting for people to be part of the fitness movement."
Siff comes to the position with a lifetime of experience, having directed over 100 multisport events since 1998, including adventure races and camps, winter triathlons, numerous nationally acclaimed summer triathlons, cycling events, and running races. As an athlete, he has completed over 50 marathons, 10 Ironman triathlons, and virtually every major adventure race in the world from 1998-2003. Before starting MountainQuest Adventures in 1998 with partner Liz Caldwell, Siff was a partner in a highly successful telemarketing company in Omaha, Nebraska, as well as Senior Vice President of a $7 billion food business. In addition, he serves on the National Board of Directors for USA Triathlon and in May of 2012 was named Vice President of their Board of Directors. Siff also serves as Co-Chair for the Boulder Local Organizing Committee for the USA Pro Cycling Challenge.
"Our entree into the endurance world last year with our triathlon series has really solidified our commitment to this space," said Struzzieri. "As we gain momentum in triathlons and hit our stride with a consistent product that athletes have really responded to, we see great potential in expanding that approach and formula."
According to Struzzieri, Siff's credentials and reputation in endurance sports, along with his business acumen, make it a perfect match. "In a few short weeks, Barry's contributions have already brought great momentum and focus to this effort. His background as an athlete, thought leader and successful businessman makes him a great fit for the team," he added.
Siff, with the full support of HITS behind him, will be based out of Boulder, Colorado and direct this new project, which will target major metropolitan areas and culminate in a year-end championship in the Fall. A search for venues and host cities is underway as are talks with major title sponsors and media partners. More information about the new HITS endurance series will be announced in the coming weeks.
